In the past, when United Kingdom wasnt so united.. =p England and Scotland have their own rulers. They have their own political agenda and they were always fighting for supremacy among themselves. At the same time, they both have plans to gobble up the other kingdom.
After some time of preparation and commotion between the 2 kingdoms, England finally led a warring party into the borders of Scotland's.
The King of Scotland tried his best to defend himself from the elite English army but to no avail. The English was led by a great general and also many well equipped knights. It was just too much for Scotland's inferior army to defend against. The war raged on in Scotlands borders... after 5 defeats, The King of Scotland turned his tail and hid away from the English Crusaders. Under dire states, he hid himself in an old fallen castle.
The castle was old and torn. It as nothing compared to his previous lavish and well decorated castle which he used to stay in. Irregardless of this downfall, he knew that he'll be safe for the time being from the English attackers.... with this, his mind eased and he went into a deep slumber.
When the King of Scotland awoken some time later, he saw that there was a spider on the wall. The spider looked as though it's gonna build a nest here in this torn castle.
The King at this time is almost bored to death. He could not withstand not having his royal jester and courtesan entertaining him... so his attention naturally went to the spider who's building it's web on the wall. Not long after... the spider began it's conquest to knit the web... soon after, the spider finished knitting the web.. and it looks as though its ready to start the web netting conquest to feed and began its life! The king of Scotland suddenly felt that he's even worst than the spider, he has became a coward with no where to go .... in hiding... With this, The King felt a burning anger in him...
After fuming mad for awhile, The King had an evil idea... Since i'm homeless and defeated, i'll destroy your nest! So thinking... the king thwart the spider's web with his fingers. And he think to himself... "now i'll see wat u're gonna do about this! heehhehe!"
The spider didnt seem to be suprised nor in shock with this sudden intrusion which destroyed his web-his home. All the spider did was quickly mend the holes and heal the damaged inflicted parts. The spider work swiftly with amazing dexterity! Soon, a new web was born!
The Scottish King has been observing the spider all this while and he pondered to himself..." I wonder if this little critter has suffered the same plight which i've inflicted to him earlier on, did it not surrender but instead, moved on with utmost patience and peseverence? Would it ever lose it's confidence??"
To confirm this, the king extend his "finger of destruction" again.
This time, the action of the spider was totally the same from the last one. It quickly mend the web asap without any sense of giving up nor slowing down. The spider didnt cry nor gave up! It did not stopped mending the web nor did it find a new place to build the web. instead, it looked so full of spirit and will to mend back the damaged web! Now, the suprised one turned to be the King.
The king then exclaimed aloud after witnessing this.. "Alright then, if this pathetic little being could proof to me that its noble and would not surrender to failures, i vow to regroup my army and fight to death with the English invaders!!!"
The King repeated the whole process of destroying the spiders web again and again, the results was uncanny. The results were always the same. The spider never hesitated once on mending its kingdom! THrough all this, THe King of Scotland suddenly felt a huge respect surge into him for this little spider. He couldnt bear to break the spider's web anymore. At the same time, he himself took up his courage and decided to regroup all his best man to head towards the direction of the invaders' camp! With him, carries the determination to retrieve his mother land from unwanted company!
This time, he sat with his best generals, planned everything through and through. Failure wasnt an option. It meant death. So the King of Scotland waited and laid an ambush to the more superior English Crusaders. At last, it was a stunning victory for the Scots. The English, seeing that defeat was eminnent, retreated with haste.

The ocean has tide and waves, it has low tides and high tides. So its natural that our life can never be smooth sailing! Everyone should learn to fail! Rather, to face failure and embrace it as a stepping stone to success! When your hopes are dashed, its ok to retreat for the time being, lick your wounds and prepare for another final assault! Thats not stupidity! That... my fellow partners... is strategy!
